Comment from Blakey, Carole
It is imperative that the plan would stabilize carbon emissions by meeting virtually all of our new electricity needs over the next 20 years with energy efficiency and renewable energy. However I am greatly concerned that the plan does nothing to actually reduce our carbon emissions or lessen our current dependence on the coal-fired power plants that account for nearly 90% of our electric system’s global-warming emissions.
I wish to ensure that the Council approves a final plan that provides the region with a path to meet growing power needs, wean us from dirty coal, bring endangered salmon and steelhead back from the brink of extinction, and start electrifying transportation.
