Comment from Dickenson, Rep. Sue

As a legislator and a citizen very concerned about climate change, I applaud the council's recognition of energy efficiency and conservation as the first fuel and see the possibility of having many megawatts of power for our region through efficiency and conservation. I also applaud the focus on alternative energy sources rather than fossil fuel. I urge the council to also adopt a plan to CUT CO2 emissions from the region as 3 states have already done. Also staff reports of the actual cost of carbon emissions and the relatively lost cost to consumers of phasing out coal fired generating plants should be included in the final report. Much good work has been done but urge you to go a step further so that our region can exemplify both responsibility and leadership in regard to climate change and energy policy. Thank you for your good work. Regards, Sue Dickenson, HD25
