Please include the following comments in the record of the Public Hearing for NPCC's Six Draft Power Plan:
Remember to take in account the fact that over the centuries millions of salmon and steelhead spawned and died in the watersheads of the Columbia Basin, thus fertalizing the land. This was an effective transfer of energy from the sea to the land. Now, we have essentially broken this vital, basic, ecological chain of events to the detriment of not only the fishes but our own species as well.
While not a panacea, the single most important action we can take to keep the native slamon and Steellhead from extinction is the removal of the four, earth-filled, dams on the Snake River. It's not to late and the time right to include this alternative in any power plan.
