The Northwest Power and Conservation Council's draft plan is totally unacceptable in its continuing reliance on coal-powered electricity generation. Coal, which produces 23 percent of the region’s electricity but spews out 87 percent of the region’s pollution, must be eliminated from our energy mix.
The Council must build on its already-solid foundation of efficiency and clean energy and strive toward a low-carbon energy future that will stabilize our need while shrinking power generation's impact on the environment.
