Comment from Rosin, Leah

Dear Bill, Bruce, Joan, Tom, Dick, Rhonda and Jim, I am a native Oregonian, and I care about how our region is powered. I talk to too many people within this state who wrongfully assume that all of our power is from clean energy (hydropower). They imagine that when they turn on a light or computer that the power is emission-free. I agree, this would be a great thing! But, I am an informed citizen, and realize that in fact, almost one quarter of the power used in Oregon comes from coal fired power plants, which produce more than 80% of the regions pollution. I want the vision that my friends have, of clean, emission-free energy to become a reality in this state, and SOONER than later. I appreciate and applaud the work that you have done as a Council with the draft proposal. But it doesn't go far enough, fast enough. I would like to see the plan address a reduction in CO2 emissions from coal-fired power plants alongside the increase in renewable power supplies. We need to clean up our act and be the vision of clean power that so many imagine we are. Thank you for your time and consideration, Leah Rosin
